John Dolan, is living proof of the redemptive power of art, it has literally saved him. Dolan was homelessness for the past 20 years but one day John sat next to his dog George on Shoreditch High Street and drew his heart out, slowly gathering a following of fans who saw the raw beauty of his drawings of his surroundings and marvelled at his dogged persistence (see what I did there?). 3 years later he is now able to pay for a roof over his head, something that most of us take for granted.
A few years ago John popped into the gallery for a bit of guidance and I was very happy to help out with some advice. Its a pleasure to see how far he has come since then, and it feels very nice to have some of his work in the gallery. Plus its great to hang out with him and his awesome dog George.
